DFR 8521(ASA007-ASA008)
In August 2008, Afai Southern and Damen Shipyards Group cooperated to build and deliver two double ended Ro-pax catamaran ferries. The length overall: 85m ; beam: 21m ; designed carrying capacity: 112 cars and 600 passengers; service speed: 22 knots. Such vessel is the biggest aluminum ro-pax ferry built in Asia. The ferry adopted the design of four independent 360 degree steerable thrusters placed symmetrically at both ends; has the flexible manoeuverability with aheading in both end’s directions, moving laterally and turning at one place etc.. BV highly appreciated the quality of these vessels. These ferries are now operating on the line between the harbour in Istanbul and islands, Turkey. This event marks that Afai South recreate splendour in aluminium shipbuilding industry.
